Instead I opened xFix and wrote "need the tap replaced, here are photos". Three responses came in twelve minutes and a plumber was at my door within the hour. That took less time than talking a neighbour into sharing a contact.
The electrician came in unexpectedly useful
I bought an LG air conditioner without thinking that it needs its own socket on a dedicated breaker. I found an electrician through the app — and he fitted the unit as well. Two jobs, one chat, none of the "he will come tomorrow at eleven… or maybe four" phone calls.
Decorator and tiler a month later
I decided to freshen up the bathroom and repaint the kitchen. I had been wary of renovation crews: high price, long timeline. Through xFix I found two independents — the decorator did the kitchen in two days for ₾600, the tiler redid the bathroom in a week. Both showed me their portfolios right in the chat.
Cleaner and movers as a bonus
After the work I needed a deep clean and found a cleaner: ₾200 for four hours. Two weeks later I had to shift a sofa from a friend, so I booked two movers for an hour — ₾100 all in. In Tbilisi that kind of thing used to cost me a day of phone calls.
What I took away from it
The single most useful habit is to message several pros at once and compare. Not "find the best one" but "find the right one for this job". When you do not have years to build up a circle of contacts, it works perfectly — in a new city it saves months.
